Recent internal developments in VS

During the last 9 years VS has invested a lot of energy in building up the Unity List (UL) (Enhedslisten), which is an electoral platform originated by VS, the danish CP, and the danish section of the 4th International, SAP. In this process, VS has lost many members who due their 100% commitment to UL, have abondoned their membership of VS to become members only of UL. This has reduced VS to a much smaller group than we were 9 years ago, when this process was started.

Dispite that, the main area of activity for VS remains UL. As it turned out impossible to implement a regrouping on the radical left at the beginning of the 90’es, VS has still not been dissolved into a new revolutionary marxist party. Thus in addition to political work within UL, VS has concentrated on the development of theoretical discussions, in order to generally raise consciousness on the left. During 1995 we made constant public seminars on different topics. At the end of 1995 we launched our quarterly theoretical magazine Solidaritet (Solidarity). Its latest number is from september 97 and contains articles on the german 1918 revolution, and an extensive article on Che Guevara.
At the end of 1996 a theoretical discussion group consisting of sympathizers from the youth organization Rebel was formed, and it has had monthly discussions since that. Also at the end of 1996 a study group reading Carl Marx’ Capital was formed.

At the end of 1996 we also celebrated our 18th congress and a seminar on the role of the capitalist state.
In august 1997 we started a European affairs committee within the party.

On september 28th 1997 we celebrated our annual meeting, and the day before we had a seminar on the Soviet Union, and what can be learned from the russian revolution in 1917.

In december 1997 we will be celebrating our 30th anniversary.
